From July 9 to 11, 2021, Jilin Provincial Competition of the 14th National Structure Design Contest for College Students was held at Jilin Jianzhu University. Twenty-six teams from 13 schools, including Jilin University, Jilin Jianzhu University and Yanbian University, participated in the competition. Two teams from Jilin University, guided by Associate Prof. Zhu Shan and Associate Prof. Zheng Shaopeng, had been trying, improving, optimizing, and innovating their works for nearly three months until finally determined the contest scheme. During the three-day fierce competition, with the successful completion of three levels of loading, the "Pressure Resistance Team" and the "Concrete Talk Team" of Jilin University won the Special Prize and the First Prize respectively.
The National Structure Design Contest for College Students is one of the nine major nation-wide competitions for college students determined by the Ministry of Education and attracts competitors from more than 600 colleges and universities every year. Our university has been participating in the competition for eleven years in a row. The intramural competition is initiated in March every year, and the excellent competitors selected from the preliminary and final rounds will enter the university team for further training. In the past eleven years, we have won 3 second prizes and 3 third prizes in the national competition; 5 special prizes, 10 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 1 third prize, 10 individual prizes and 10 excellent organization prizes in provincial competitions.
