Jilin University College of Construction Engineering Successfully Holds Review Meeting for National Key R&D Program Project Design Plan

    On February 25, 2023, the College of Construction Engineering at Jilin University successfully held a review meeting for the design plan of the National Key R&D Program project titled “Mechanisms and Methods for Multi-Process Core Drilling at the Ice-Rock Interface and Underlying Bedrock: Quick-Release Multi-Functional Aluminum Alloy Double-Wall Drill Rod.” Attending the meeting were experts including Academician Sun Youhong, President of China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Professor Liu Sanyi from the China Geological Survey, Professor Jiang Guosheng from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Professor Liu Baolin from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Professor Zhang Wei from the China Geological Survey, Professor Liu Yuejin from China National Geological Equipment Group, and Professor Zhu Jianglong from Zhongdi Equipment (Beijing) Scientific Research Institute Co., Ltd. These experts served as reviewers for the project design plan.


    At the opening ceremony, Academician Sun Youhong, as the head of the expert review group, provided a detailed introduction to the cutting-edge technologies and challenges faced in polar research in China. Project responsibility expert Professor Liu Sanyi presented further requirements for the research topic. Associate Professor Bai Wenxiang from the Jilin University Research Institute also attended and spoke at the meeting, along with Professor Guo Wei, Dean of the College of Construction Engineering. Professor-level engineer Peng Li from Zhongdi Equipment Wuxi Drilling Tool Factory participated as a collaborator on the project, while project leader Professor Yang Gansheng and other team members also attended. The meeting was presided over by Professor Zhang Wen, Vice Dean of the College of Construction Engineering.


    Professor Wang Rusheng, the project leader from the College of Construction Engineering, introduced the research background and content of the project to the attending experts and provided a brief overview of the research progress. Specialist Leader Professor Liu Baochang gave a detailed report on the design plan for the quick-release multi-functional aluminum alloy double-wall drill rod. After listening to the report, reviewing relevant materials, and engaging in questioning and discussion, the expert review group concluded that the overall design plan proposed by the project team was reasonable and feasible, while also providing further optimization suggestions. Ultimately, the expert group unanimously agreed to approve the design plan. The meeting called for the project team members to optimize the design plan based on the experts’ suggestions and to maximize its application value, thereby contributing to China’s polar research efforts.
