Changbai Mountain and the Songnen Plain are significant components of the geological and ecological environment in Northeast China. In the context of global climate change and economic globalization, geological disasters such as landslides, ground subsidence, permafrost damage, and land degradation continue to threaten the resource development, ecological protection, infrastructure construction, and safety of life and property in the Changbai Mountain area, the Songnen Plain, and surrounding regions. To discuss the phenomena of volcanic and plain engineering geological disasters and environmental issues, accelerate the construction of a disaster prevention and reduction framework in Northeast China, ensure the high-quality implementation of regional strategies and projects, and support the revitalization and sustainable economic development of Northeast China, the forum on "Volcanic and Engineering Geological Environment and Disaster Prevention and Control in Changbai Mountain and Songnen Plain" was successfully held at the College of Construction Engineering, Jilin University.

The forum featured over 20 peers from the field of engineering geology, including Professor Zhou Cuiying from Sun Yat-sen University, Researcher Ma Fengshan from the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professors Shang Yueduan and Sun Hongyue from Zhejiang University, Professors Sun Yijia and Cheng Qianguang from Southwest Jiaotong University, Professor Hu Xinli from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), and Professors Wang Qing, Chen Jianping, and Zhang Wen from Jilin University. Experts gathered in the Spring City to collaborate and provide insights for the revitalization of Northeast China and regional disaster prevention and reduction efforts.

The opening ceremony of the forum was hosted by Professor Zhang Wen, Vice Dean of the College of Construction Engineering, Jilin University.
