In order to further strengthen the fire safety management of the College of Construction Engineering, improve the awareness of fire safety and the ability to avoid danger and save themselves, popularize the knowledge of fire safety, and respond to the call of “119 Fire Prevention Month” of the university in 2022, on November 8th, the College of Construction Engineering, together with the Security Office of Chaoyang Campus, organized professional and technical staff, the person in charge of safety in each laboratory and all new graduate students to hold a series of fire safety education lectures and fire prevention exercises in the Water Engineering Building of Chaoyang Campus. The activity was hosted by Wu Xinming, Vice President of Administration of College of Construction Engineering.
First of all, Chief Tang Xiaobing from the Fire Safety Section of the Security Office of Chaoyang Campus gave a lecture on fire safety education. He analyzed the main causes of fires and emphasized the need to establish the safety awareness of prevention, to master the knowledge of firefighting and to have the ability of alarm, escape and self-rescue in the face of fire hazards. Combined with the actual situation of our college, the importance of doing a good job of firefighting was further emphasized. The teachers and students present benefited a lot.
Subsequently, an emergency evacuation exercise was conducted under the organization of the staff of the Security Office and the College of Construction Engineering. The evacuation exercise was held against the background of a sudden fire in the Water Engineering Building, and teachers and students responded quickly and evacuated in an orderly manner. After a few minutes, all the teachers and students inside the building were safely evacuated to the outside. In front of the south door of the Water Engineering Building, Section Chief Tang and the staff of the Security Office also gave a detailed explanation on the fire-fighting characteristics of dry powder fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers and fire blankets, daily maintenance and the problems that should be paid attention to in the use and operation, and instructed some teachers and students to practice fire-fighting on site. The exercise achieved the expected goal.
Through the fire safety education lectures and fire safety exercises, the awareness of fire safety, the skills of self-help and the psychological quality of not being in danger in case of emergency have been improved, which provides a strong security guarantee for the successful implementation of fire safety management and the construction of “Double First-Class” in the future.
