On July 24, 2021, the 2nd meeting of China-Russia Young Scientist Exchange Program---Intelligent Mechanical Equipment Academic Workshop hosted by Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery and organized by Jilin University was successfully held on Nanling Campus, Jilin University to further promote the academic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian young scholars in the fields of underground resource drilling, bionic technology and intelligent equipment, etc. Over 20 faculties and student representatives both from CCE and CBAE, including Prof. Cao Pinlu, Vice-President of CCE, Prof. Liu Baochang, director of Department of Drilling and Exploration Engineering, Associate Prof. Zhao Yan, Ms. Li Xue, Secretary for Foreign Affairs attended the meeting in person. Particularly, a foreign faculty member Prof. ALEXEY MARKOV participated online.
Co-organized by CCE & CBAE, the meeting was carried out mainly around the topics of underground resource drilling, bionic technology and intelligent equipment, etc. Prof. Liu Baochang gave a keynote report themed "Development of Microwave Heater for Gas Flow Assurance in Marine Natural Gas Hydrate Production", interpreting the technical difficulties in extraction of natural gas hydrates and the latest research progresses. Prof. ALEXEY MARKOV gave an online keynote report themed "The Application of Geophysical Intelligent Logging Technology for Ice Sheet Research in Antarctica and Greenland", sharing the current status of Antarctic scientific research and the development of geophysical intelligent logging technology in science. Associate Prof. Zhao Yan made a keynote report themed "Key Technologies and Applications of Ultra-Deep Scientific Drilling Equipment", introducing the current situation of ultra-deep scientific drilling both at home and abroad, the technical difficulties and the important progresses CCE made in drilling in the Songliao Basin. Prof. Huang Dongyan from the Key Laboratory of Bionic Engineering, Ministry of Education in Jilin University, made a keynote report themed "The Application of Sensor Technology in Agriculture", showing the great prospects for the application of sensors, which can not only shake off the limit of natural factors such as weather, but also improve agricultural yields by scientific data analysis.
The workshop was a huge success as it provided an opportunity for in-depth exchange and cooperation between young faculties and students from both colleges. Meanwhile it promoted cross-disciplinary integration and innovation as well as enhanced friendship between the two colleges.
