On June 10, the 90th anniversary of the birth of the famous drilling expert Professor Kudryashov B.B. was held at the St. Petersburg Mining University in Russia. The President Prof. V.S. Litvinenko, and Executive Vice President N.V. Pashkevich of St. Petersburg Mining University, representatives of Russian Antarctic Expedition, Geographical Society of Russia and other scientific institutes, representatives of relevant organizations of China and Mongolia, more than 100 old friends of Prof. Kudryashov and their relatives and friends participated in the event online and offline. Professor Talalay, Director of Institute of Polar Science and Engineering, attended the event in person. Other attendees of the College of Construction Engineering participated in the event online through live broadcast, including the Executive Dean Guo Wei, Deputy Dean Cao Pinlu, Chen Chen-Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Drilling Technology for Complex Conditions of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Zhu Chaofan- one of the Dingxin Scholars, Zhang Nan-a teacher from the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of In-situ Conversion, Drilling and Exploration Technology for Oil Shale, as well as some postgraduates and other staff members.

Professor Kudryashov was a Russian scientist made tremendous contributions to the country and a member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He led Antarctic expedition for many times to launch ice drilling and repeatedly broken the Guinness records for the Antarctic ice drilling depth. He devoted his whole life to the research, application and popularization of drilling technology, and made standout contributions in the fields of permafrost drilling and polar drilling.

Professor Kudryashov is not only a world-renowned drilling expert, but also an old friend of the Chinese people. He was awarded by the Jilin Provincial People's Government the title of "Excellent Friendship and Cooperation Expert of Jilin Province". Since the 1990s, he had visited China for 10 times to promote and introduce the advanced drilling technology, which greatly boosted the rapid development of China's drilling industry. At the same time, he was so kind to the Chinese experts visiting Russia and helped them to solve various problems. And he was affectionately called "Professor Ku".

At the commemorative event, representatives of various circles delivered speeches in memory of Professor Kudryashov's distinguished achievements. Professor Chen Chen, who had been a visiting scholar at St. Petersburg Mining University, delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty and students of the Department of Drilling and Explorarion Engineering, College of Construction Engineering, Jilin University. He highly praised Professor Kudryashov's outstanding contributions in enhancing Sino-Russian cooperation and his great spirit of devotion to scientific research, and recalled the days he spent with him. Prof. Chen Chen said, "Prof. Kudryashov, like my PhD supervisor Prof. Zhang Zupei, was a practitioner of Sino-Russian friendship and did a lot of work in the exchange between drilling experts of the two countries.”

China and Russia have established strategic partner relationship. The College of Construction Engineering has been attaching great importance to the cooperation with Russian universities and research institutes. In the context of the increasingly close cooperation between Russia and China in the fields of education, scientific research and innovation, the college will continue to improve the level of international exchange and cooperation, and accelerate the construction of the first-class discipline of "Geological Resources and Geological Engineering".
