On April 30, 2020, President Zhang Xi, Jilin University (JLU) and President Rumyantsev Maxim Valeryevich, Siberia Federal University (SFU) signed Academic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement between SFU and JLU.
The agreement includes joint application of international research grants, exchange of faculty and students, long-term and short-term academic exchange programs, joint research workshop, international conference and so on.
Founded in Nov. 2006, SFU is the largest comprehensive university in the east part of Russia. SFU has high enrollment, outstanding faculty and full range of disciplines, with 21 colleges for 8000 teaching staff and 43000 students.
SFU and JLU have matching disciplines such as prospecting engineering, petroleum engineering and engineering geology. Academics in both universities have common research interest, such as mineral prospecting technique, directional drilling, drilling equipment development and drilling technique, which serve as the foundation for further academic exchange and cooperation.
From Nov. 17 to 23, 2019, Prof. Viacheslav V. Neskoromnykh and Prof. Pavel Petenev from SFU attended the symposium held by College of Construction Engineering. They gave lectures of “Technological and Geological Reasons of Well Curvature when Drilling in Anisotropic Rocks”, and “Introduction of Dynamically Stabilizing Tools when Drilling Geological Exploration Wells with Wire-line Core Complexes”. They also visited the Key Laboratory of Drilling and Exploitation Technology in Complex Conditions and spoke highly of the college’s disciplinary development, advanced instrument and experiment, and commercialization of research and technology transfer.
The agreement indicates the ties of the two universities enter a new stage, offering strong support for academic cooperation and exchange, and progress of discipline and talent cultivation.
