College of Construction Engineering Holds the 2024 Sub-forum for International Young Scholars

On the afternoon of December 27, 2024, the College of Construction Engineering of Jilin University held the 2024 Sub-forum for International Young Scholars. Eight outstanding young scholars from six countries and regions, including the University of Alberta in Canada, Leibniz University Hannover in Germany, and the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom, were invited to the college for exchanges.


The meeting was presided over by Professor Guo Wei, Dean of the College of Construction Engineering. Professor Cao Pinlu, Associate Dean of the College, Professor Zhang Wen, and a number of teachers from various departments of the college participated as representatives. All of them gathered together to jointly start this communication feast featuring the collision of knowledge and ideas.


At the beginning of the forum, Dean Guo Wei delivered a welcome speech, expressing sincere welcome and greetings to the young scholars who came from afar. Subsequently, he gave a detailed and comprehensive introduction to the college and its discipline construction, elaborating from multiple dimensions such as the development history of the college, the existing advantageous discipline directions, the faculty allocation, and the fruitful scientific research achievements. This enabled the participating scholars to have a clear and in-depth understanding of the overall discipline layout and development trend of the college.


The participating young scholars took turns to give speeches on stage. Combining their own research expertise, they reported on hot topics, cutting-edge research trends, and innovative achievements in relevant professional fields. The teacher representatives of the college also shared a lot of experiences and insights based on their years of teaching and scientific research experience, and the atmosphere at the scene was enthusiastic.


After the meeting, in order to let the participating scholars more intuitively feel the profound cultural heritage and strong scientific research and practical ability of the college, the college organized visits to the college history museum and laboratories, and further in-depth exchanges were carried out.


The successful holding of this sub-forum for international young scholars has provided the college with a high-quality window to recruit talents from all over the world. Through close communication and interaction, overseas young scholars have gained an in-depth understanding of the college's disciplinary advantages, scientific research platforms, and good development prospects, which has greatly enhanced the college's attractiveness to outstanding talents. At the same time, it also helps the college to accurately connect with professional talents that meet its own development needs, further enrich the teaching staff, optimize the talent structure, continuously inject new vitality into the college in many aspects such as discipline construction and scientific research innovation, and promote the college's vigorous development towards a higher level and greater internationalization.
