On 27th September 2023, the Forum on Frontiers of Advanced Drilling and Exploitation Technologies for Underground Resources and Polar Regions -- 2023 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application held by the College of Construction Engineering, Jilin University was completed. The forum was hosted by Prof LIU Baochang, Director of the Department of Exploration Engineering, College of Construction Engineering, and Prof GUO Wei, Dean of College of Construction Engineering, attended and delivered a welcome speech.
On behalf of the college, Prof GUO Wei expressed his warm welcome to the visit of foreign experts and expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the experts and scholars for their support and help in the development and construction of the college. GUO Wei briefly introduced the development status of the college and said that this meeting is the first time that the sub-forum of our college's International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application was re-convened offline after the epidemic, and the sub-forum invited two experts and professors from the National University of Oil & Gas “Gubkin University”, Moscow, Russia to carry out face-to-face academic exchanges and co-operation, and conduct academic discussions on coiled tubing technology, AI drilling, directional drilling, drilling equipment materials and other fields focusing on the cutting-edge drilling and mining technologies. With an emphasis on exploring the transformation and application of scientific research results, this meeting would enhance the understanding of cutting-edge academic knowledge. Further, promote the continuous cooperation between the college and Gubkin University and realise a win-win situation through open cooperation.
The sub-forum was attended by experts and scholars from Jilin University and the National University of Oil & Gas “Gubkin University”, Moscow, Russia. 5 experts and scholars domestic and abroad made academic reports in the fields of ice drilling and advanced technology of drilling and extraction of underground resources during the forum. <Coiled Tubing Technologies for the High-tech Wells Construction and Reconstruction> delivered by Professor Gelfgat Mikhail, Department of Oil and Gas Drilling, Gubkin State Oil and Gas University, Russia and <Artificial Intelligence in Drilling> by Associate Professor Alexey Arkhipov, Department of Oil and Gas Drilling, Gubkin State Oil and Gas University, Russia, received wide attention and discussion.
Students and faculty from the College of Construction Engineering actively participated in the forum and interacted with experts, discussing relevant topics in a warm atmosphere. Through the forum, students learnt about the latest research progress of top international universities in the field of drilling and mining frontier technology, expanded their international vision, deepened their knowledge and understanding, and promoted their research and study work.
For four consecutive years, the College of Construction Engineering has organized the " International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application (Changchun) - Forum on Frontiers of Advanced Drilling and Exploitation Technologies for Underground Resources", which has formed a good meeting mechanism. The successful convening of this conference further promotes international cooperation and communication between teachers and students of the college and foreign high-level experts and scholars in an all-round, multi-level and wide range of international cooperation and exchanges, which is of great significance to continuously enhance the depth and breadth of cooperation with countries along “the Belt and Road".
