On July 12th, 2022, Prof. Wang Boxin, Vice President of College of Construction Engineering of Jilin University, Associate Prof. Bo Kun of Petroleum Engineering Department, Associate Prof. Gao Xin of Road and Bridge Engineering Department, Ms. Wang Huidi, Director of Postgraduate General Office and Ms. Tang Haiyan, Secretary of Postgraduate Civic Affairs went to Guangxi University College of Civil Engineering for research and exchange, aiming to promote the cooperation of civil engineering discipline construction between the two universities and colleges. Prof. Wang Naixue, the distinguished alumnus of Jilin University, vice chairman of the Political Consultative Conference of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and secretary of the Party Committee of Guangxi University, received the exchange visitors from College of Construction Engineering of Jilin University to Guangxi University cordially.

Professor An Yonghui, President of College of Civil Engineering and Construction of Guangxi University, Professor Qin Jianli, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Professor Ma Shaokun, Assistant President, Associate Professor Xiao Liang, Assistant President, Professor Xie Kaizhong, Director of Department of Road and Bridge, Professor Yang Haifeng, Director of Department of Construction and Engineering, and Mr. Zhou Jin’e, Postgraduate Secretary participated in the exchange and discussion. President An Yonghui firstly introduced the discipline construction, teaching and research position and characteristics of College of Civil Engineering and Construction of Guangxi University, as well as the situation of talent training and college management mechanism reform. Professor Qin Jianli, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, introduced the student management, employment guidance, student activities, awards and support. After that, Prof. Wang Boxin, Vice President of the College of Construction Engineering, gave a detailed introduction to the history of the College of Construction Engineering of Jilin University, its philosophy, discipline construction, composition of the faculty, and the advantages of teaching and research features of the College.

During the discussion, Vice President Wang Boxin said that the discipline construction of College of Civil Engineering and Construction of Guangxi University has a clear positioning development and continues to play the academic influence of the discipline, which has a strong reference for the construction of civil engineering discipline of College of Construction Engineering. During the exchange, Vice President Wang Boxin put forward a lot of new ideas on the follow-up construction of the college in the context of the current development of the college and the development advantages of the other institution, and reached a consensus on cooperation with President An Yonghui of the College of Civil Engineering and Construction of Guangxi University, and the two faculties will conduct multi-faceted and deep-level exchanges in academic platform building, talent attraction and cultivation, inter-institutional exchanges, teaching and research in the college and discipline construction in the future. The participating teachers of Jilin University and Guangxi University also had extensive exchanges and discussions on the issues of concern to both sides.

After the exchange and discussion, Vice President Wang Boxin of College of Construction Engineering and his group visited the laboratories and teaching and research buildings of College of Civil Engineering and Construction of Guangxi University.

The civil engineering discipline of Guangxi University is the only discipline in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region selected for the construction list of world class disciplines and is a national key discipline. The civil engineering major was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site, and passed the assessment (certification) of civil engineering majors in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Housing and Construction for three consecutive times in 2006, 2011 and 2016. Through this research, our college further learned the advanced management experience of College of Civil and Construction Engineering of Guangxi University, and maintained good communication and close exchange with the sister college, which is of great significance to promote the discipline construction of the two colleges and universities. College of Construction Engineering of Jilin University will continue to enhance the communication and interaction with the College of Civil and Construction Engineering of Guangxi University, and make up for the shortcomings, so that the level of civil engineering discipline construction of Jilin University will reach a new level and contribute to the rapid development of College of Construction Engineering and civil engineering discipline construction.
