The Department of Construction Engineering has the undergraduate program of Civil Engineering (Construction Engineering direction), which is an important supporting discipline for the doctoral and master’s degree programs of the first-level discipline of Civil Engineering in Jilin University, and is a part of Demonstration Center for Experimental Civil Engineering Education and Key Laboratory of Geotechnical Mechanics and New Structural Materials of Jilin Province. There are 14 faculty members, including 5 professors (2 Ph.D. supervisors), 5 associate professors, 1 senior engineer, 2 lecturers and 1 engineer.

The Department of Construction Engineering undertakes the teaching tasks of Theoretical Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials, Structural Mechanics, Mechanics of Elasticity, Basic Principles and Design of Concrete Structures, Basic Principles and Design of Steel Structures, Building Architecture, Structural Design of Tall Buildings and other undergraduate courses. Meanwhile, the department is responsible for the organization and training of the National Structural Design Competition for College Students and China Mechanics Competition in Honour of Zhou Peiyuan.

The main research fields of the master and doctoral students in the Department of Construction Engineering are high performance concrete and new materials, evaluation and strengthening of existing building structures, stability analysis of elastic structures, concrete members and structure design, etc.
