November 10^th-12^th, 2023, Changchun, China

Since the 1^st International Symposium on Oil Shale Exploration and Utilization was held at Jilin University in 2011, the following 2^nd to 4^th Symposiums were successfully held in 2014, 2018 and 2020, gathering more than 700 experts and scholars from more than 20 countries around the globe. Today, the Symposium has become an academic conference with significant influence in the field of shale oil and gas internationally.

The 5^th International Symposium on Shale Oil & Gas Exploration and Development will take place on November 10^th-12^th, 2023 in Changchun City, Jilin Province. The conference will be hosted by Jilin University and undertaken by Construction Engineering College of Jilin University, Collaborative Innovation Center for Shale Oil and Gas Exploration and Development, National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of In-situ Conversion, Drilling and Exploitation Technology for Oil Shale and the Metallogenic Theory and Key Technology Branch of State Center for Research, and co-organized by the State Center for Research and Development of Oil Shale Exploitation, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), etc.

The theme of this symposium will focus on the Challenges and Opportunities of Shale Oil and Gas Development under Energy Revolution. In the face of complex energy transformation situations in the world, the development of unconventional oil and gas such as oil shale, shale oil, shale gas, and oil-rich coal face not only the challenges of carbon neutrality, technical difficulty and exploration cost but also great opportunities of national energy security needs and national strategic plan.

The symposium aims to gather the experts and researchers in the field of oil shale, shale oil and gas to share and exchange new technologies and achievements in shale oil and gas exploration and development around the world, providing a cooperation and exchange platform for promoting the energy revolution and build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system.

Call for Papers：

Abstracts or full papers could be submitted for the conference by email. Abstracts should be submitted in English (300-500 words), in Word (docx.) and Acrobat (pdf.) formats respectively. Check Attachment 1 for Abstract Templates, and Attachment 2 for full paper template in English.

Submission Deadline：20^th October 2023

Submit by email：Please send abstracts/full papers to the conference email address: shaleoilgas2023@163.com. Please use "5^th Shale Oil and Gas Symposium Paper" as the subject of your email.

Excellent papers will be recommended to the Journal of Advances in Geo-Energy Research.

Oral Presentation and Poster：

Oral presentation documents would be accepted in the format of PowerPoint (ppt.) or PDF (pdf.), with 16:9 slides. Symposium presentations will be 15 minutes in length and key-note presentations will be 25-30 minutes.

A uniform format will be used for symposium posters. Check Attachment 3 for poster format (Poster print size: 90 cm × 120 cm / 36 inch × 48 inch).

Accommodation standards:

350 RMB/day for a deluxe standard room (including breakfast)

        350 RMB/day for a deluxe king-size room (including breakfast)

Payment of Symposium Fees:

Payment for symposium fee is accepted both by online remittance and on-site payment.

2. Students: $100(USD)/600 RMB

3. Deadline for online remittance is 30^th October.
