To help new students gain a comprehensive understanding of university life, address practical issues they may encounter upon arrival, and clarify their goals during their time in college, the College of Construction Engineering at Jilin University organized a visit to the dormitories of the Class of 2023 for the fall semester. On August 27 at 1:30 PM, Yi Changtao, Party Secretary of the College, Guo Wei, Dean of the College, Yan Guodong, Deputy Party Secretary, and Vice Deans Wang Boxin, Cao Pinlu, and Bo Kun, along with counsellors Chang Rongjian and Zhang Naijun of the Class of 2023, visited the dormitories to meet with new students.

During the visit, the college leadership emphasized the concept of “new learning,” encouraging students to break away from the old study habits of high school and embrace the different learning modes of the university. They reminded students of General Secretary Xi Jinping's earnest instructions and stressed the importance of comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labour. The leaders also advised students to recognize that time is fleeting; as they begin a new semester and a new chapter, they should set long-term goals rather than focus on short-term visions. They encouraged students to explore their creativity and showcase their talents to the fullest.

At the end of the visit, the college leaders warmly shook hands with the new students and patiently inquired about any issues they encountered during the start of the semester.

This visit fostered friendly communication between the college leadership and the students, allowing them to understand the students' concerns and provide assistance and guidance. The leaders encouraged students to set ambitious goals and maintain the principle that learning is of utmost importance, ensuring their all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labour. They wished the students a fulfilling and enjoyable university life.
