College of Construction Engineering Holds Discussion Meeting for 2023 Undergraduate Graduates

    On the morning of June 19, at 9:00 AM, the College of Construction Engineering held a discussion meeting for representatives of the 2023 undergraduate graduates in Conference Room 319 of the Hydraulic Engineering Building. The meeting was attended by Yi Changtao, Party Secretary of the College, Guo Wei, Dean of the College, Yan Guodong, Deputy Party Secretary, Bo Kun, Vice Dean, class advisors from various teaching classes, and representatives of the graduating students. The meeting was presided over by Deputy Party Secretary Yan Guodong.


    Student Meng Ziqi, drawing from her four years of experience as a class monitor, suggested that the College establish more research-related work-study positions to assist economically disadvantaged students. Student Chen Si shared the genuine thoughts and feelings of her peers regarding employment and further studies, recommending that the College invite outstanding alumni from the industry to provide career guidance. Student Xiu Jiakai, reflecting on her experience as a freshman counselor assistant, suggested that the College invite recommended students and direct doctoral candidates to serve as academic advisors for freshmen. Student Zhang Xuzhe proposed offering a more comprehensive professional introduction course for first-year students. Students Li Zihao, Wang Xinhai, Gao Guangyin, Chen Lei, Jiao Fengqi, Zeng Yijian, and Fan Lixiang also provided valuable insights and suggestions on undergraduate teaching, talent cultivation, and practical education based on their respective fields of study and personal experiences, contributing ideas for the development of the College's various undertakings.


    Secretary Yi Changtao addressed the students' questions in detail, gaining an understanding of the genuine thoughts and challenges faced by graduating students regarding employment. He expressed the need to further enhance students’ enthusiasm for autonomous learning and to assist them in establishing good academic plans from the beginning of their university journey. He also thanked the students for their attention and dedication to the College’s development and wished them continued success in their future studies, lives, and careers, urging them to uphold the school motto of pragmatism and innovation.


    Dean Guo Wei stated that the issues raised by the students represent the direction of the College's work. He assured that the College would actively implement and follow up on the various suggestions made by the students. The College is also promoting the construction of academic advisors and class leaders to better help first-year students understand their majors, the College, and employment opportunities. Finally, Dean Guo wished the students a bright future and encouraged them to continue their efforts.
