In order to deeply implement the important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the development of oil shale in Jilin Province, to promote the national "14th Five-Year Plan" for scientific and technological innovation in the field of energy, to help the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China, and to implement the relevant requirements of the construction program of Jilin University's engineering cluster, the Fifth International Symposium on Shale Oil and Gas Exploration, Development and Utilization Technology was held on 10-12 November. The Symposium was held in Jilin University, Changchun. ZHANG Xi, President of Jilin University and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. SUN Youhong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and External Distinguished Professor of Jilin University, served as the chairman of the meeting, ZHAO Wenzhi, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Deputy Director of the Department of Energy and Mining, LIN Jun, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Head of the Department of Geology of Jilin University, and ZHOU Lihong, Executive Director and Secretary of the Party Committee of Dagang Oilfield, attended the meeting. The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by GUO Wei, Dean of College of Construction Engineering, Jilin University.
In his speech, Zhang Xi welcomed the experts and scholars attending the meeting on behalf of the university and expressed his gratitude for their long-term care and support. He said that geology is a traditionally advantageous discipline of the university, which was founded more than 70 years ago and has always been oriented to the national mineral resources, energy security, environmental protection and other major national needs, has cultivated a batch of geologists after another with solid theoretical foundation and excellent practical ability for the country, made outstanding contributions to the development of the national construction and geological undertakings. As an important force in the engineering cluster of the university, the discipline of geology has made remarkable achievements in recent years. At present, energy shortage has become a major challenge restricting the sustainable development of mankind, and energy security is related to economic prosperity and development and long-term social stability. Solving the common problems faced by all mankind requires the full cooperation of scientists from all over the world. It is expected that through exchanges and discussions, colleagues will find important scientific and technological problems that need to be solved in cooperation, and promote the progress of shale oil and gas exploration, development and utilization through collaboration and cooperation, to make newer and greater contributions to green and sustainable development.
The purpose of this symposium is to invite experts and scholars in the field of shale oil and gas from domestic and abroad to carry out academic exchanges around the new technology and new achievements in shale oil and gas exploration and development, and to provide a platform for cooperation and exchanges to promote the energy revolution and build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system. More than 210 representatives from 59 domestic and international organizations in China, Britain, Israel, Estonia, Jordan and Pakistan attended the meeting. Representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources, China Geological Survey, National Oil Shale Mining R&D Centre, National Energy Shale Gas R&D Centre, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China University of Geosciences, China University of Mining and Technology, China University of Petroleum, Chinese National Petroleum Corporation, Sino Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation, and other domestic universities, scientific research institutes, and enterprises in the field of shale oil and gas research and development participated in the meeting.
The theme of this symposium is "Challenges and Opportunities of Shale Oil and Gas Development in the Context of Energy Revolution", and the academic reports cover basic geological theories of shale oil and gas exploration and development, geophysical exploration methods and new technologies of shale oil and gas in the context of big data, key technologies of shale oil and gas underground in-situ transformation, geological and engineering integration of shale oil and gas development, dry distillation refining and efficient utilization, new technologies of shale oil and gas development integrated with digital intelligence, environmental protection technologies of shale oil and gas development, new technologies of cross-integration of shale oil and gas development with new energy, and new technologies of cross-integration of shale oil and gas development with artificial intelligence. Shale oil and gas exploration and development key technologies and cutting-edge technologies in the field of shale oil and gas exploration and development, such as dry distillation refining and efficient comprehensive utilization, shale oil and gas digital-intelligent integration and development new technologies, shale oil and gas development environmental protection technologies, shale oil and gas development and new energy cross-fertilization new technologies, shale oil and gas development paths driven by artificial intelligence, and shale oil and gas development strategies to promote the realization of the dual-carbon strategy. The participants shared the relevant scientific research and technical achievements and further deepened their understanding of the prospects and challenges of shale oil and gas exploration, development and utilization.
Since the 1st International Symposium on Shale Oil & Gas Exploration and Development held by Jilin University in 2011, the 2nd to 5th sessions have been successfully held in 2014, 2018, 2020 and 2023, bringing together more than 1,000 experts and scholars from more than 20 countries around the globe, and it has become an influential academic conference in the field of international shale oil and gas.
